ATB: Big Ten Hockey’s top 5 nonconference highlights in 2015-16

PENN STATE FIGHTS BACK AGAINST IRISH

In its third game of the year, Penn State would defeat Notre Dame 5-3. This was a huge result for the Nittany Lions, as they had dropped the opening game of the series. While at the time neither of these teams were ranked and it seemed like just a strong win over a Hockey East team, both of these teams are currently in the top 16 of the USCHO poll, with Notre Dame up at No. 8.

Penn State won with tons of teamwork, as 13 different Nittany Lions registered a point, and all but the fourth goal had two people getting credit for an assist. This was the first big nonconference victory for any Big Ten hockey school this season.
