Big Ten Hockey Weekly Wrap: Wisconsin off the snide

In the Big Ten hockey conferences first weekend with all six tenants in action this season, the conference combined for a 6-4-1 record. The biggest boost for the Big Ten was undoubtedly Wisconsins play. The Badgers posted a 1-0-1 record against Ferris State for their first non-loss, followed by their first win in 10 tries on the year.

3. Penn State

The Nittany Lions are basically in the upper echelon of the power rankings by default.

A 3-1 loss to Cornell, the result of its only game of the weekend,is far from practical, and suddenly Penn State has lost three of its past five contests. Its current positioncan be credited to wins at Michigan and at UMass-Lowell, part of a resume that simply stacks up better than that of the three Big Ten teams below.

The Nittany Lions will have a chance to get back on track and, most importantly, solidify its position in the conference standings with a series at Wisconsin this coming weekend.
