J.T. Compher’s second hat trick is four games wasn’t enough for Michigan, which fell to Penn State, 4-3, Saturday afternoon in Happy Valley.
Compher thought he scored a fourth in the game’s final moments. However, officials ruled the whistle blew before the puck crossed the line to clinch the win for PSU.

“The referee thought the puck was covered when he blew the whistle,” Michigan coach Red Berenson said. “I thought I could see it fron the bench, and it was still in play. It ends up we saw it go in the net. Of course, he said he blew the whistle.”

The sweep of Michigan ended the home careers of PSU’s first senior class.
