The Golden Gophers used a three-goal first period to vault themselves to a 5-0 shutout win over Penn State on Friday night at Mariucci Arena.

Minnesota (20-12-3, 11-5-3 Big Ten) eliminated the Nittany Lions from contention of a Big Ten title with the win in the conference’s final weekend of play. Gophers goalie Adam Wilcox made 18 saves to blanket a Penn State offense which had only been shutout once before this season. The Gophers are currently tied atop the Big Ten standings with Michigan, at 36 points apiece.
