GoPSUSports: PSU All-Sports Museum’s New Ice Hockey Exhibit to Open Oct. 11

The new exhibit will highlight the history of ice hockey at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State All-Sports Museum’s new Ice Hockey Exhibit is set to formally open to the public on Friday, October 11. Located in the Museum’s upstairs gallery, the exhibit traces the history of the sport at Penn State from its start in the early 1900’s and the first varsity period of the 1940’s to the sport’s rebirth with the Icers and Lady Icers and the return to varsity play in 2012.

Featured in the exhibit are pioneers such Herb Baetz, who helped form the first Penn State team in 1909, and 1940’s standouts John Dufford and Larry Lightbody. The exhibit also follows the rise of the Penn State Icers from their origins in the early 1970’s to their years as a power within the American Collegiate Hockey Association.
