The Wolverines allowed three goals in as many minutes, sucking the energy out of Yost Ice Arena. The final of the three, a breakaway goal by Casey Bailey, proved to be the game-winner as Michigan fell to Penn State, 3-2. Michigan outshot the nation's leader in shots per game, 40-28, and held the Big Ten's top goal-scoring team off the board the final two periods.
