Penn State trip is homecoming of sorts for former Butler hockey goalie | TribLIVE

Jake Hildebrand continues to be the man between the pipes for Michigan State’s hockey team. The Butler native played every minute in goal for the Spartans through their first 20 games. He helped the young squad to a 7-11-2 overall record and a 1-3-2 mark in the Big Ten.

Michigan State’s tough schedule took it to Penn State last weekend. The Spartans tied the Nittany Lions, 2-2, on Friday and dropped a 5-2 decision on Saturday in a game televised on ESPNU. Many of Hildebrand’s friends and family did not have to tune in they made the journey to State College to watch the games and visit the goaltender afterward.
