A few years ago the right combination of pipes turning on at the same time would knock out the power to one of the lights above the media table atop Greenberg Ice Pavilion.

Now the right combination of passes are turning on the goal lights as Penn State’s men’s hockey players upset Top 5 teams — opponents who wondered if the Nittany Lions would score, let alone win, only a year or two earlier.

So what happened? How did a program go from a question mark to one of the nation’s most aggressive offenses in just under three years? A new building is nice, but the Pegula Ice Arena isn’t scoring goals, it’s just hosting the games.
