PENN STATE 4, VERMONT 2: Trailing 2-1, the Nittany Lions (13-7-4) scored three goals in the third period to beat the Catamounts (15-9-2) in the Philadelphia College Faceoff. Scott Conway tied the score 2-2 on a power-play goal at 4:08. David Thompsons first goal of the season was the winner with 3:09 left. David Goodwin added an empty-net goal with 1:08 to play. P.J. Musico stopped 33 shots for Penn State, Mike Santaguida 35 for Vermont. The Gophers still have two series with the Nittany Lions, at Penn State on Feb. 20-21 and home March 13-14.
